The Szczecin District Court has decided to reject an appeal concerning the detention of Tomasz Ch., who was arrested in connection with the "Budda" case. This means that he will remain in custody.
Earlier, the court had also ruled against the appeals of Adam U., Bartłomiej G., Kamil L. (known as "Budda"), and his partner, Aleksandra K. (nicknamed "Grażynka"), ensuring that they would also stay in detention.
The decision regarding Tomasz Ch. was confirmed by Michał Tomala, the spokesperson for the Szczecin District Court, following the court session on Wednesday.
On October 14, 2024, Kamil L., known as "Budda," and nine other individuals were arrested by officers from the Central Bureau of Investigation Police (CBŚP).
Multiple charges
According to Katarzyna Calów-Jaszewska, a representative of the National Prosecutor’s Office, the suspects face several charges, including: leading and participating in an organized criminal group, and circumventing gambling laws and profiting from illegal lottery ticket sales.
Further charges include defrauding the State Treasury by issuing false invoices unrelated to actual business activities, and money laundering, which involved creating the appearance of legitimate business operations, transferring funds between accounts under the guise of loans, and sending the money abroad to conceal its illegal origin.
If found guilty, YouTuber Kamil L. ("Budda") could face up to 10 years in prison for leading an organized criminal group. Additionally, the charges of money laundering and falsifying invoices carry potential prison sentences ranging from six months to eight years.
The investigation into the case is ongoing, with further legal proceedings expected in the coming months.
