Poland receives approximately €9.4 billion, or over 40 billion PLN, from the second and third payment requests under the National Recovery Plan (KPO), Minister of Funds and Regional Policy Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz announced on Tuesday.
"We have received more billions of zlotys for investments. The funds from the KPO will be used, among other things, for creating new spots in nurseries, fast internet, building insulation, modernization of energy networks, and constructing wind power plants," Pełczyńska-Nałęcz stated, as quoted in the communiqué.
The ministry recalled that Poland submitted the second and third payment requests under the KPO to the European Commission on September 13, 2024. The Commission approved the request on November 12.
"As promised by the Minister of Funds and Regional Policy, Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz, the funds from both requests, amounting to approximately €9.4 billion (just over 40 billion PLN), reached our country before Christmas," the ministry announced.
KPO funds
The ministry emphasized that the KPO funds will be invested in areas such as: energy efficiency of apartments and houses; safe, reliable, and sustainable transport; digital infrastructure for education; new energy sources to strengthen Poland's energy security; and modernization of the energy network.
The ministry also announced that Poland plans to submit the fourth and fifth payment requests under the KPO later this year.
