PAP: ruling coalition to sign new agreement on Saturday noon

The chief of Law and Justice (PiS) executive committee Krzysztof Sobolewski told Radio Plus there was a plan to sign a new coalition deal until the end of the week. "So that already next week we could start carrying out plans listed in the agreement" - the PiS politician added.

According to PAP, the new United Right coalition agreement is to be signed on Saturday at noon.

PiS leadership met on Thursday in Warsaw to continue talks on the coalition's future. The party spokesperson Anita Czerwińska informed the meeting was mainly about assessing "an agreement reached by the United Right". Czerwińska added that the gist of the agreement was a will to work for Poland together and in solidarity, but she didn't give any more details.

The day before, on Thursday, the leaders of PiS and United Poland - Jarosław Kaczyński and Zbigniew Ziobro - discussed the issue face-to-face. Reportedly, one of the topics discussed was Jarosław Kaczyński entering the government as chief of the security committee, responsible for overseeing three ministries: justice, interior affairs, and defence.

Deputy lower house speaker from PiS, Ryszard Terlecki, told reporters on Thursday that "everything seems to suggest" that the PiS chairman would join the cabinet as deputy PM.

The spokesperson for the government Piotr Mueller said in TVN24 on Friday that the composition of the new cabinet should be announced within two weeks.
