"Funds to cover the unlimited rehabilitation for people with severe disabilities have been secured", said the Health Minister, Łukasz Szumowski. According to the bill passed in response to the protest of the disabled in the Sejm, the access to the rehabilitation should be available from July on.
The bill introduces special access rights to healthcare services, pharmaceutical services and medical products for people with severe disabilities. The regulation orders the National Health Fund to abolish funding limits for medical rehabilitation for people with severe disabilities. "From July on, the full access to services guaranteed by the new law will come into effect," minister Szumowski reassured on Thursday.
"We’ve asked the National Health Fund to change its financial plan; we’ve also secured money to increase funding of rehabilitation contracts in clinics that already carry out signed contracts, as well as to sign new deals in the so-called uncharted areas. This will certainly be ready for 1st July," he added. The legislation also abolishes setting periods for utilizing medical equipment like wheelchairs, catheters and orthoses. People with certified severe disability will have the right to priority access to medical services and pharmaceutical consultation in pharmacies.
This group of people with disabilities will gain the right to visit specialty doctors without a referral. According to its authors (Law and Justice MPs), the legislation will bring about 520 zloty saving to each household with a.disabled person.
