Poland confirmed the highest number of new COVID infections and deaths in the fourth wave of coronavirus pandemic. Asked about potential tightening of restrictions, Health Ministry spokesman Wojciech Andrusiewicz said "we should follow those we have now".
Poland reported 24,239 new daily COVID-19 infections, health ministry data showed on Wednesday, the highest total since April.
There were also 463 COVID-related deaths reported on Wednesday.
Poland, a country of around 38 million people, has reported 3,254,875 cases of the coronavirus and 79,624 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
Poland's Health Ministry spokesman Wojciech Andrusiewicz said on Wednesday that over 70% of reported cases were unvaccinated people.
Asked about potential tightening of restrictions, Andrusiewicz said "we should follow those we have now".
At the health minister's request, the Chief Sanitary Inspector ordered sanitary controls in shopping malls be increased.
