Former professional MMA fighter Mamed K. was detained on Tuesday by the Central Bureau of Police Investgations (CBŚP). He is suspected of being a member of an organized crime group responsible for stealing cars in the Czech Republic and bringing them to Poland.
The spokesperson for the National Public Prosecutor's Office, Ewa Bialik told Polish Press Agency that on Tuesday CBŚP officers detained three people, including Mamed K. "He was detained in connection to receiving stolen luxury cars," she added. Among the said vehicles were: Porsche Panamera, Range Rover Evoque, BMW M6 and BMW 7 Series.
The arrests were made on request of the Organized Crime and Corruption Department of the National Public Prosecutor's Office in Katowice. Mamed K. wasn't resisting the arrest. After presenting charges against the suspect, the prosecutor will decide which preventive measures to apply in his case. Private radio RMF FM was the first to inform about the arrest of Mamed K.
He is the fourth person detained in connection to the inquiry that was launched in January 2018.
Aleksandra Nowara from Voivodeship Police in Katowice said that the antiterrorists were dispatched to carry out the arrest as Mamed K. was considered potentially dangerous given his former career in martial arts.
