A long queue lined up on Tuesday in front of Puławska 20 Aid Centre in Warsaw, where refegees can receive basic necessities free of charge. Some began waiting as early as 7 a.m.
Puławska 20 Aid Centre is a grassroots initiative launched by the residents of Mokotów district, who did not want to stay indifferent to the needs of people fleeing war. With the support of Cinematography Development Foundation (Fundacja Rozwoju Kinematografii) - which shared its premises at the corner of Puławska and Narbutta streets - a so-called free shop has been opened, at which refugees from Ukraine can receive basic necessities free of charge, including clothes, shoes, hygiene products and food.
A long queue lined up in front of the free shop on Tuesday and tvnwarszawa.pl reporter Tomasz Zieliński was at the scene.
"The line is very long and is constantly getting longer as more people arrive. Practically 100 percent of those waiting are women and children. Mothers with smaller babies are allowed to skip the queue. Everything is supervised by volunteers," Zieliński said.
According to rmf24.pl portal, the first visitors were lining up as early as 7 a.m. The aid centre can support 500-1000 people daily.
Warsaw 19115 City Contact Centre informs that Puławska 20 Aid Centre is open between 12-18 on Tuesdays and Thursdays, as well as 10-14 on Saturdays.
