Foreign ministers of Poland, Germany, France, and possibly also foreign ministers of Italy and Ukraine, are to meet in Warsaw next Tuesday, November 19 - PAP learned from Poland's Foreign Ministry. The discussions are expected to focus on the international situation following the recent U.S. elections and the question of continued support for Ukraine.
PAP learned from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that preparations were underway for the meeting of Poland's Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski, Germany's Annalena Baerbock, and France's Jean-Noel Barrot, who may be joined by Italy's Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani and Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.
The meeting is planned to be held at the Palace on the Isle in Warsaw’s Łazienki Park.
The primary agenda will cover the international context in a changed political landscape post-U.S. elections, prospects for further support to Ukraine, and strengthening NATO’s eastern flank. Additionally, topics related to cooperation among the participating countries are also expected to be discussed.
On November 2, the foreign ministers of the Weimar Triangle—Poland, Germany, and France—held a phone conversation regarding European security policy, particularly focusing on the future of transatlantic relations with the United States.
The planned talks next week come as the new administration of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump takes shape following the election. During his campaign, Trump had signaled a potential shift in the U.S.'s current policy toward Ukraine and the level of support provided to the country.
