Polish-American military drills took place in Drawsko-Pomorskie. Nearly 1,000 soldiers practiced defensive fire and counterattack elements, among other things.
Victory Eagle manouevres involve soldiers from the 17th Greater Poland Mechanised Brigade and U.S. 1st Infantry Division.
The main stage of the practice has been divided into two parts, in which Polish subunits carried out
"We've practiced a series of scenarios, which included combat area missions. These scenarios were related to reconnaissance, delaying operations, and evacuation of medical personnel and damaged equipment from the battlefield," said General Dariusz Kosowski from 17th Greater Poland Mechanised Brigade.
The chief aim of Victory Eagle is to improve joint operations and build mutual trust between Polish and American soldiers during combat missions.
This is a cooperation between our systems, an understanding between our people. Despite differences in practice methods, both on Polish and American side, we've reached this understanding," said Major Artur Stepuro.
In the drills the soldiers use American Abrams Tanks, Bradley Military Vehicles, M120 Rak self-propelled guns, AHS Krab self-propelled tracked gun-howitzers, American M109 self-propelled howitzers, AH-64 Apache helicopters, and other.
The drills are also attended by nearly 300 Territorial Defence Force soldiers from 14th West Pomeranian Brigade (ZBOT), for whom it is the first international practice.
On Monday, ZBOT soldiers practiced, among other things, introducing allied forced into combat area, securing landing zones and routes, protecting structures, as well as search and rescue missions.
