Former commander of U.S. European Command - General Philip M. Breedlove - spoke with TVN24 reporter Jan Niedziałek on Tuesday during Warsaw Security Summit held in Poland's capital city. "I believe Ukraine will continue to push Russia out of Ukrainian lands," the general said, adding that "that could even include Crimea".
A retired four-star general in the United States Air Force, Philip Mark Breedlove, spoke with TVN24 reporter Jan Niedziałek on Tuesday (October 4) on the sidelines of Warsaw Security Forum. The general had served as the commander of U.S. European Command, as well as the 17th Supreme Allied Commander Europe of NATO Allied Command Operations.
"I think we all are now witnessing a change in the nature of the war. Ukraine had already won a very strategic victory north of Kiev and drove the forces, but now what we see is, rather than being in a defensive posture, Ukraine has now taken the offence and they are retaking lands, and retaking lands east of Dnieper River, and they are beginning to push back the Russian forces," Gen. Breedlove said.
He added that "this will continue as long as the West continues to support Ukraine, and give them those items that they need to fight". "I believe Ukraine will continue to push Russia out of Ukrainian lands."
"And yes, I agree with the previous speakers here today that that could even include Crimea, if the West continues to support Ukraine in its efforts," the general said. "And so I expect that’s something we will see."
"Previous speakers here, Ben Hodges who you just interviewed, believe that the lands inside of Ukraine will be emptied by this year, and possibly Crimea from next year. That’s pretty aggressive, but I do expect that would be what the final result is," said General Philip M. Breedlove.
