Tanks for Ukraine
Long suspicious of Russia's intentions in central and eastern Europe, Poland has emerged as one of neighbouring Ukraine's staunchest allies since President Vladimir Putin's forces launched what the Kremlin calls its "special military operation".
Poland bought 250 Abrams tanks to fill the void created after handing over 240 T-72 tanks to Ukraine.
Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Mariusz Błaszczak said last week that Abrams tanks that will be used to train Polish soldiers had already arrived. "We will be ready when the first of 250 state-of-art tanks we purchased arrive," the minister said.
