President Andrzej Duda on Tuesday (Jan. 30) appointed new members of the Social Dialogue Council. The ceremony was held at the Presidential Palace in Warsaw. The president was supposed to hand in the nominations for the Council last Thursday, but ministers from Donald Tusk's cabinet said at the time they could not have taken part due to a parliament session held that day.
President Andrzej Duda officially appointed new members of the Social Dialogue Council. The government representatives who were present at the ceremony on Tuesday are: Minister of Family, Labour and Social Policy Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bąk, Minister of Finance Andrzej Domański, Minister of Education Barbara Nowacka, Minister of Science Dariusz Wieczorek, Minister of Development and Technology Krzysztof Hetman, Minister of Infrastructure Dariusz Klimczak, Minister of Health Izabela Leszczyna, Minister for Senior Policy Marzena Okła-Drewnowicz, Minister for Equality Katarzyna Kotula, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Finance Hanna Majszczyk, and Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy Sebastian Gajewski.

"I wish you all good luck," the president told the new appointees, adding that "the Council has got a new impulse to work".
Postponed ceremony
Prime Minister Donald Tusk appointed ministers to represent the government in the work of the Council on January 5.
Originally, the president was supposed to hand in the nominations for the Council last Thursday (Jan. 25), but the ministers from Donald Tusk's cabinet cancelled the appointment.
"Unfortunately, the President delayed making a decision and set the ceremony of appointing members of the government to the Council for 25 January. In response, the Chancellery of the Prime Minister informed the Chancellery of the President that on that day there was a session of the Sejm, during which ministers performed their official duties. As a result, they will not be able to attend the celebration," the PM's office said in a statement issued last week.
Social Dialogue Council
The Social Dialogue Council was established in 2015 and replaced the Tripartite Commission. The Council is a forum for dialogue between employers, employees and the government, and its specific competences and tasks are specified in the Act on the Social Dialogue Council. The employers’ and employees’ sides are represented in the Council by representative organisations.
The Union of Entrepreneurs and Employers was recognised as a representative organisation by the decision of the District Court in Warsaw of 23rd March 2018. On 10th November 2018, the President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda, appointed representatives of the Union to the Social Dialogue Council.
