The law on freedom of information obligates the National Judiciary Council (KRS) to publish online the names of the candidates for Supreme Court judges, said the KRS spokesperson judge Maciej Mitera on Tuesday.
On Monday, the KRS informed that 185 candidates for Supreme Court judges filed their applications. The majority, 85 applications, were submitted for the newly created Disciplinary Chamber.
Asked on Tuesday whether the list of candidates will be released, judge Mitera said that in his view, the law on freedom of information obligates the Judiciary Council do publish the names online.
"Bulletin of Public Information obligates us to publish the list of candidates online, however, it does not mention any specific date," said Mitera.
He also said that the list will be published "only after the recruitment procedure is formally over".
"Seven or fourteen days before the plenary session (of the KRS), that is before the selection of the candidates," he added.
Earlier on, Mr Mitera told Polish Press Agency (PAP) that the next KRS session is scheduled for 18 Septemeber.
