Runaway parents from Warsaw found by the police in Prague

Sylwester Marczak, a spokesperson for Warsaw Metropolitan Police (KSP), said on Wednesday the case of the missing Adam J. and his wife Aneta J. was given over to the search and idetification department officers at the KSP. "The department is chiefly responsible for locating the most dangerous criminals, but they also coordinate searches for missing persons from the Warsaw area," he said.

Marczak said the officers from KSP had gone to Prague on Saturday, together with their colleagues from the National Police Headquarters search and identification team.

The spokesman added the officers had determined the missing couple's whereabouts. "The procedure with the married couple was carried out on Tuesday by the Czech police officers.

He added the couple had not been detained because the case pertained to their disapperance, and not any crime committed.

"Our officers spoke with the couple. The relevant documentation will be sent to the prosecutor's office and the court. Once they have been analysed, further steps will be decided," the spokesman said.

"The wellbeing of the minors is our priority at the moment. That's why this is our only comment regarding the case," Marczak added.

TVN24 informed that the married couple had left their flat at Puławska Street in Warsaw around midnight between May 20 and 21.

The couple left and abandoned their two teenage sons in the apartment. They would not return nor contact any relatives or friends. Worried family members took care of the boys and reported the parents' disappearance to the police.

Upon leaving the flat, the parents left their sons "a letter with instructions". "Boys, you are brave. You will get along in life. We are proud of you," they wrote.

In the meantime, they had been seen in a shelter in Tatra Mountains and in Slovakia.
