He left the bank and got robbed. But a 74-year-old man wasn't going to give up easily. He threw himself on the hood of the robbers' getaway car. Finally, the perps threw the stolen backpack out of the car, but kept a bag with documents and money. They didn't know, however, that most of the cash was in the backpack. The police are looking for the suspects and appeal to anyone who might help in finding them.
The police are investigating the incident which took place in Ostrów Wielkopolski, where the 74-year-old had withdrawn the money. He was robbed after he left the bank.
"He hid the money in his backpack, which he then put in the seat of his car. When he was entering the vehicle, another car approached, most likely with three men inside. They stole the backpack from the victim's car," said Małgorzata Michaś, Ostrów police spokesperson.
Businessman didn't give up, threw himself on the hood
The robbed business-owner wasn't planning to give up easily. The recording shows him throwing himself on the hood of the escaping car. This way, he tried to stop the perps from getting away.
Finally, the robbers threw the backpack out of the window, but kept a bag with documents and 600 zlotys in cash inside. They didn't know, however, that most of the cash - worth several thousand zlotys, was in the backpack, not the bag.
The situation - what can be seen in the video - looked very dangerous. Luckily, the 74-year-old wasn't hurt.
Police are investigating and call for help
Police in Ostrów were questioning witnesses. "We've secured a CCTV footage. We're looking for further videos. We know the car's plates. At the moment we're doing our best to identify and detain the suspects," Michaś said.
Officers call upon all persons, who might have valuable information regarding the incident, to come forward. Whether the crime will be classified as theft or robbery is yet to be decided.
