Polish mountaineer Kacper Tekieli has died in Swiss Alps at the age of 38. He was married to the acclaimed cross-country skier Justyna Kowalczyk, who has published a short post in social media in memory of her late husband. "He was absolutely wonderful," she wrote.
Kowalczyk met Tekieli at a climbing course. "He was very professional. After the course we realized we were very fond of each other," the two-time Olympic champion said in one of the interviews.
The pair would have celebrated their third wedding anniversary in September. That same month, their son Hugo will celebrate his second birthday.
"He was absolutely wonderful. He was the most beautiful Person in the world" - Justyna Kowalczyk wrote on Facebook.
Mountaineer media outlets informed about Kacper Tekieli's death on Thursday morning (May 18). Jerzy Natkański, Head of the Mountaineering Support Foundation, confirmed the tragic news to eurosport.pl, adding that the mountaineer died in Swiss Alps. "He died in an avalanche, his body was found on Thursday," Natkański said.
