On Wednesday evening in Łódź, the police found the body of a 28-year-old man who most likely died after taking designer drugs. Presumably, the man is the tenth victim of designer drugs in Łódzkie voivodeship in recent days.
Spokesperson for the District Prosecutor in Łódź Krzysztof Kopania said that the body of a 28-year-old was found on Wednesday evening by his ex-concubine, in a flat she was letting him temporarily.
"A glass pipe and foil container with white powder inside were found next to the body. Initial examination revealed that the man died on Tuesday or Wednesday. Prosecutor will examine the body. A post-mortem and detailed toxicology tests will be conducted," said Mr Kopania.
During last week, nine people aged 19-40, died most likely as a result of taking designer drugs.
On Thursday, the Provincial Police Commander in Łódź has formed a special task force that will investigate the series of designer-drugs-related deaths.
The special police unit is set to determine all the circumstances surrounding the tragic series, as well as to find out and detain people responsible for distributing illegal substances dangerous to health and life of the citizens.
So far, nine people have been detained in connection with the case - three in Łódź and six in Bełchatów. Two of them have already heard charges of exposing many people to danger of loss of life or health. One of the dealers is under temporary arrest. All suspects may face up to 12 years in prison.
