The United Right coalition's leaders met on Thursday at Law and Justice's (PiS) headquarters in Warsaw. The summit called in order to discuss the cabinet reshuffle, apart from PiS leadership, was attented by the Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of Agreement party, Jarosław Gowin, as well as United Poland's leader and Minister of Justice, Zbigniew Ziobro.
Apart from PiS Chairman Jarosław Kaczyński and Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, the meeting was also attented by PiS deputy chairs: Beata Szydło, Joachim Brudziński and Antoni Macierewicz, as well as PiS parliamentary club's head Ryszard Terlecki and Deputy Marshal of the Senate Adam Bielan. Among the first ones to leave the party building at Nowogrodzka street was deputy chair Adam Lipiński. He refused to comment on the details of the meeting. Asked if the negotiations were tough, he replied: "Tough negotiations? We understand each other very well, we have common goals and views on reality".
The Deputy Justice Minister Patryk Jaki who has won a seat in the European Parliament revealed that decision were made but he couldn't speak about them. "The prime minister has the priority in announcing the decisions," he stressed.
Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki was one of the last to leave the PiS headquarters.
Earlier that day, the prime minister met with President Andrzej Duda to discuss the cabinet reshuffle. According to president's spokesperson Błażej Spychalski, "the reshuffle will be rather broad" and will take place next week. He added that the president "has put forward some candidates"who could take over as ministers or deputy ministers.
The reconstruction of the government is partially a result of Sunday's elections to the European Parliament in which a few members of the cabinet won MEP seats. Among them are deputy PM Beata Szydło, interior minister Joachim Brudziński, labour minister Elżbieta Rafalska, education minister Anna Zalewska, minister for humanitarian aid Beata Kempa, as well as government's spokesperson Joanna Kopcińska.
According to deputy PM Gowin, the reshuffle will be announced and carried out in the beginning of the next week. Asked about the scale of the reconstruction, he said that it will be broader than initially planned before the EU election.
