EU ambassadors decided on Wednesday that the issue of the rule of law Poland, under Article 7 procedure, will be discussed at the next session of the General Affairs Council - EU source told Polish Press Agency (PAP).
The question of the rule of law in Hungary, against which Article 7 procedure was also launched, wasn't discussed on Wednesday.
The question of rule of law, which was sidelined for a few months during Romanian EU presidency, is expected to return to the centre of EU debates, under the new Finnish leadership.
The Finnish presidency announced that they wanted to organise the first hearing of Hungary under Article 7 procedure, but so far they only managed to establish conditions for such hearings.
Wednesday's decision of the ambassadors, opposed by Poland, is to be confirmed at the meeting of the EU ministers - the source said.
The hearing of Hungary will most likely take place in September, so there's enough time for preparations.
Poland's case, on the other hand, is to be discussed already on the 18th of July, at the next meeting of EU ministers.
