Civic Platform leader Grzegorz Schetyna will be the top candidate of the Civic Coalition in Warsaw in the parliamentary elections that are to take place in October. Former interior minister Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz will top the list in Kielce, former deputy foreign minister in Law and Justice cabinet, Paweł Kowal - in Kraków, leader of the Polish Initiative Barbara Nowacka in Gdynia, and former minister of justice Borys Budka - in Katowice.
The top candidates were presented at a press conference on Tuesday by Grzegorz Schetyna.
"On 14 August we will be closing the lists to the Sejm (lower house) and approving lists to the Senate (upper house), whereas on 17 August we will hold the countrywide councils' session and that's when we will finally close both lists and begin the process of electoral committee registration," Schetyna said.
Piotr Borys will head the list in Legnica, Tomasz Siemoniak in Wałbrzych, Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska in Wrocław, Krzysztof Brejza in Bydgoszcz, Tomasz Lenz in Toruń and Joanna Mucha in Lublin.
Haidar Rijad, previously associated with Democratic Left Alliance (SLD), will be the number one on the list in Chełm, Tomasz Aniśko from the Greens in Zielona Góra, journalist Tomasz Zimoch in Łódź, Cezary Grabarczyk in Piotrków Trybunalski, Cezary Tomczyk in Sieradz, Paweł Kowal in Kraków, Dorota Niedziela in Kraków II, Jagna Marczułatis-Walczak in Nowy Sącz and Urszula Augustyn in Tarnów.
Marcin Kierwiński will lead the list in Płock, Kamila Gasiuk-Pihowicz in Siedlce, Joanna Kluzik-Rostkowska in Radom, Grzegorz Schetyna in Warsaw, Jan Grabiec in Warsaw II, Witold Zembaczyński in Opole, Joanna Frydrych in Krosno, Tadeusz Ferenc in Rzeszów, Robert Tyszkiewicz in Białystok, Sławomir Neumann in Gdańsk, Barbara Nowacka in Gdynia, Mirosław Nykiel in Bielsko-Biała, Marek Krząkała in Bielsko-Biała II, Izabela Leszczyna in Częstochowa, Borys Budka in Katowice, Marta Golbik in Katowice II and Wojciech Saługa in Katowice III.
The list in Kielce will be headed by Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz, in Elbląg by Jacek Protas, in Olsztyn by Janusz Cichoń, in Kalisz by Mariusz Witczak, in Konin by Tomasz Nowak, in Piła by Małgorzata Janyska, in Poznań by Joanna Jaśkowiak, in Koszalin by Sławomir Nitras and in Szczecin by Arkadiusz Marchewka.
Schetyna also informed that the leader of Modern Party, Katarzyna Lubnauer will take the second place on the Warsaw list, right behind him.
