Poland's coach Paulo Sousa on Monday announced that Kamil Piątkowski and Jakub Kamiński have been additionally called up for Septembers World Cup qualifiers. The Portuguese coach, who celebrated his 51st birthday on Monday, said he hoped that injured Piotr Zieliński would recover for the game against England. Later that day, Poland's FA spokesman Jakub Kwiatkowski said another two players, Bartosz Slisz and Damian Szymański would join the injury-ridden team.
Poland is scheduled to face Albania (September 2 in Warsaw), San Marino (September 5 in Serravalle) and England (September 8 in Warsaw).
Additional call-ups are a response to health issues of a number of players.
Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich has tested positive for COVID-19 and Pogoń Szczecin young talent Kacper Kozłowski is injured. Napoli's playmaker Piotr Zieliński suffered a thigh injury the previous weekend.
Poland's coach Paulo Sousa said at a press conference on Monday his key player would be with the team and expressed hope Zieliński would be able to play against England in Warsaw.
Sousa added that he called up additional two players to reenforce the team - Red Bull Salzburg defender Kamil Piątkowski and Lech Poznań winger Jakub Kamiński.
Later on Monday, Poland's FA spokesman Jakub Kwiatkowski announced further two new call-ups - midfielders Bartosz Slisz (Legia Warsaw) and Damian Szymański (AEK Athens).
The Portuguese coach celebrated his 51st birthday on Monday and accepted best wishes from reporters at the press conference.
In the first three qualifying games, Polish team drew 3:3 with away, defeated Andorra 3:0 at home, and lost 1:2 to England at Wembley.
