The Ministry of Health informed on Monday about 548 newly confirmed cases of coronavirus infection, as well as the death of five infected people. In total, Poland has reported 62,310 infections and 1960 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
In Monday's announcement, the health ministry said 548 new coronavirus infections were confirmed across Poland. Most of them were reported in the Silesian province, southern Poland.
The day before, on Sunday, 581 cases were reported. On Saturday, the second-highest number of infections were reported, whereas on Friday (August 21), the highest number since the start of the pandemic was confirmed - 903.
The ministry also informed on Monday about the death of 5 infected people, aged between 62 and 93.

Over 5,000 cases in a week
Within the last seven days - since Tuesday August 18, to Monday August 24 - the Ministry of Health informed about a total of 5031 new coronavirus infections:
- Tuesday - 597
- Wednesday - 735
- Thursday - 767
- Friday - 903
- Saturday - 900
- Sunday - 581
- Monday - 548.
Daily report
The health ministry also published its daily "coronavirus report", according to which on Monday, August 24:
- 2,207 "COVID-19 beds" have been occupied
- 83 ventilators have been used
- 98,233 people have been placed in quarantine
- 8,894 people have been placed under epidemiological supervision
- 42,448 people have recovered
