Health Ministry reported 12,762 coronavirus infection cases and 694 COVID-related deaths on Thursday. Over 65 percent of hospital beds in Poland dedicated to COVID patients were occupied.
The worst hit region was once again Silesia in the south of Poland, where 2,123 cases were reported.
Out of 694 deaths reported on Thursday, 175 cases were COVID-19 patients with no other illnesses, whereas 519 had pre-existing medical conditions.
The number of deaths reported on Thursday was the 6th-highest since the start of the pandemic.
The ministry also said over 71,700 coronavirus tests were carried out within the last 24 hours, compared to 80,200 on Wednesday, and 70,600 on Tuesday.
According to the report, over 65 percent of hospital beds dedicated to COVID patients were occupied, as well as 71 percent of ventilators.
Since the start of the pandemic Poland has reported 2,731,256 infections, of which 64,168 turned out to be fatal.
