The fire service intervened 144 times on Wednesday due to strong wind - said the spokesman for the State Fire Service, Senior Brigadier Paweł Frątczak. Most dispatches took place in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, in the Tatra County. One person was injured.
According to Frątczak, strong wind caused at least 144 incidents across Poland.
Most of them (106) took place in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, where the wind damaged 14 roofs, one of which was completely blown away off an abandoned building in Chochołów.
Most damage was caused in the Tatra Country. In Bukowina Tatrzańska, one woman was injured after a tree fell on her car.
According to weather forecasts by the Meteorology and Water Management Institute (IMGW) for the next 3 days, 1st-degree wind danger might occur in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship.
The extremely strong wind, known as the Halny, swept through Polish mountains, leaving torn roofs and downed trees.
On Kasprowy Wierch the gust reached speeds of 200 km/h.
