President Andrzej Duda and Chinese President Xi Jinping spoke over the phone on Friday about the consequences of Russian aggression against Ukraine - Polish president's office informed. "I'm very happy to have spoken with Chairman Xi Jinping," president Duda said on Twitter.
President Duda's chancellery informed about his phone conversation with the Chinese leader at its website.
According to the statement, "the conversation lasted one hour and to a large extent pertained to Russian aggression against Ukraine".
"The president of Poland presented Polish standpoint regarding Russian attack. He pointed to the negative effect of the war started by Russia on the security of the whole of our region as well as on trade cooperation with other partners, including the Chinese," the chancellery said .
Polish presdient commented on his discussion with the Chinese leader in a tweet. "I'm very happy to have spoken with Chairman Xi Jinping. We spoke about Ukraine and its territorial integrity, I mentioned about the necessity to tackle the food crisis caused by Russia, we discussed Sino-Polish relations whose development is an important point of Poland's policy," president Duda wrote.
Andrzej Duda's office also said in the statement that Xi Jinping expressed his readiness to cooperate with Poland in search of peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine. "Both sides underscored they set great store by respecting sovereignty and territorial intergrity of all countries, including Ukraine. President Duda drew attention to Russia's attempts to cause a global food crisis and the possibility of China playing an active role in counteracting its development," we read.
