MP Kamil Bortniczuk will become minister of sport, whereas MP Łukasz Mejza will be his deputy, chairman of the Law and Justice party (PiS) told Polish Press Agency (PAP).
"MP Bortniczuk will become sports minister. The appointment will follow as soon as possible, taking into account the lagilative process needed to separate the ministry. I think the issue should be resolved next week," Kaczyński told PAP.
He also announced that an independent MP Łukasz Mejza would become Bortniczuk's deputy.
Chairman Kaczyński also commented on deputy PM Piotr Gliński's recent interview for "Przegląd Sportowy", in which he had said he did not find it necessary to separate Ministry of Sport from the current Ministry of Culture, National Heritage and Sport.
"I highly value, like and understand deputy PM Gliński. However, we need to create ministry of sport and there's no point in delaying decisions in that regard," PiS chairman announced.
Bortniczuk, once a member of Jarosław Gowin's Accord - a junior partner which left the ruling coalition, is now at the Republican Party founded by Adam Bielan. In the Sejm, he is a member of PiS parliamentary club.
The Republican Party is to become part of the United Right coalition.
Last week on Wednesday, Bortniczuk met with President Andrzej Duda, whose office later informed the MP would be considered candidate for sports ministers.
