While Law and Justice hasn't made it official, the party's Chairman said they will back the incumbent Andrzej Duda in 2020 Presidential elections. Experience has shown that Jarosław Kaczyński is often a good gauge of party sentiment.
In his interview for the "Sieci" weekly, Mr Kaczyński added that the final decision on this would be made by the party's political council or its congress.
When asked if Andrzej Duda would go head-to-head with the current President of the European Council, Donald Tusk, Kaczyński said: "Donald Tusk likes to act in situations where he has a high level of certainty of victory".
He added that "at this moment, he doesn't have that certainty. So I think, if the situation doesn't change, he won't run".
He was also asked whether Law and Justice will support President Duda's proposal of a constitutional referendum. Mr Kaczyński responded only by saying that no decision had yet been made on that issue.
