Forty nine (49) percent of respondents do not support the strike of Polish teachers, according to the latest survey by Kantar for "Fakty" TVN and TVN24. Not many people less - 47 percent - are in favour of the protest. The respondents were have also been asked how much the teachers should be earning.
During the survey conducted by Kantar for "Fakty" TVN and TVN24 between 15 and 16 of April, the respondents were asked about their opinion about the ongoing strike of Polish teachers.
The majority of those asked - 49 percent - answered that they were against the strike, of which 29 percent were "definitely against" the protest, whereas 20 percent were "rather against".
The opposite opinion was shared by 47 percent of respondents who supported the strike of the teachers. In this group, 26 percent were "definitely in favour", whereas 21 percent "rather in favour" of the protest.
Four (4) percent have chosen the "don't know/hard to say" option.
In comparison to the Kantar poll carried out for "Gazeta Wyborcza" published on Thursday 11 April, the support for the protest has dropped. In that survey, 52 percent of those surveyed said they were in favour of the strike, while 43 percent were against.
"Gazeta Wyborcza" notes, however, that the questions for the poll published on 11 April have been asked "right before the strike began" (the poll was carried out between 4 and 9 April; the strike began on April 8).
How much teachers should be earning?
The other question the respondents have been asked was: "In your opinion, how much full-time primary school teachers with 10-year experience should earn?".
The majority of those asked said that the teachers should be earning between 3001 and 4000 zlotys net (after tax). A little less - 29 percent - said the teachers should receive a monthly salary between 2001 and 3000 zlotys net.
Twelve (12) percent thinks that the appropriate earnings of teachers should be between 4001 and 5000 zlotys. Only 4 percent said that the salary should be between 1001 and 2000 zlotys.
Two (2) percent of respondents hold the opinion that the teachers should be receiving between 5001 and 6000 zlotys, whereas 1 percent said the right salary should be between 6001 and 7000 zlotys net. Also 1 percent said teachers deserve to be earning more than 7001 zlotys net per month.
The answer "don't know/hard to say" was picked by 21 percent of those asked.
The survey conducted by Kantar for "Fakty" TVN and TVN24 has been carried out between 15 and 16 of April 2019 on a nationwide, representative sample of mobile and landline numbers of people above the age of 18. The sample amounted to 1004 people.
