Belgian cyclist Bjorg Lambrecht has died due to injuries sustained in the tragic accident during the third stage of Tour de Pologne. He was 22 years old.

The accident happened at the first part of the stage between Chorzów and Zabrze. The 22-year-old cyclist from Lotto Soudal has hit a concrete culvert and fell. He was being resuscitated at the scene and shortly after taken to a hospital in Rybnik, where he died.

Lotto Soudal wrote about the tragedy on its website and on Twitter.

Race organisers added: "There are no words to describe this tragedy. Bjorg passed away following an accident on today's stage. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, team and the whole cycling community."
