Holders of Polish passports can visit 182 countries and territories without visas, according to the latest Henley Passport Index 2021. On the top of the list are Japanese and Singaporean passports, with which one can enter 192 countries and territories vise-free.
With historical data spanning 16 years, the Henley Passport Index is the only one of its kind based on exclusive data from the International Air Transport Authority (IATA).
The index includes 199 different passports and 227 different travel destinations.
Updated quarterly, the Henley Passport Index is considered the standard reference tool for global citizens and sovereign states when assessing where a passport ranks on the global mobility spectrum.
Polish passport high up
Polish passport has been ranked 10th in the index, together with Slovakian and Lithuanian. This is the highest position of the Polish passport since the ranking has been launched in 2006. 15 years ago, Poland was ranked 16th.
Most of the top ten places of the index have been taken by European countries, with Germany passport listed second.
The weakest is the Afghani passport listed 116th. According to Henley Passport Index, holders of this passport can visit only 26 countries and territories without visas. A bit stronger passports are issued by countries such as Iraq, Syria, or Pakistan.
Passport Index
Another passport strength ranking is Passport Index, which is published in real time and published as soon as any new changes in given countries are introduced, such as visa-waiver programmes or COVID-19 restrictions.
In this ranking, Poland has been listed 5th, together with Malta, Czech Republic, France, Greece, Hungary, United Kingdom, Canada and USA.
Holders of Polish passports can freely enter 142 countries, of which 94 without visas. In 36 countries, Poles will receive "on arrival" visas (after arriving at the airport), while in 68 they will need a special sticker in their documents.
The countries with the strongest passports are the United States and United Arab Emirates. They freely visit 152 countries.
