Warsaw police have released a composite sketch of a man suspected of a knife attack near Wierzbno metro station. The attacker approached two men who were holding hands and, at first, abused them verbally and walked away. He quickly returned and stabbed one of the men in the back with a sharp object.
The police has launched an investigation into the Wierzbno station knife attack. "The incident took place on February 17, 2021, around 9:40 p.m. at Naruszewicza street, nearby Metro Wierzbno in Mokotów. The perpetrator stabbed the victim in the back with a knife, and then headed towards Krasickiego street" - said Robert Koniuszy, Mokotów police spokesman.
"According to initial findings, the victim was walking in the company of another man. All of a sudden, they got verbally abused by the suspect, who then walked away. After a few minutes, the attacker returned and stabbed one of the men in the back with a sharp object, putting the wounded at risk of losing life or health" - said the police officer.
Based on the witness' testimony, police sketch artists have created a composite sketch of the perpetrator. "The suspect is 25-30 years old, 170 centimetres tall, of thin body build. He has short, straight and dark hair, combed down to his forehead and dark eyes. On the day of the incident he was wearing sport shoes, blue trousers and a hooded black jacket with with white elements" - Robert Koniuszy said.
Asked by tvnwarszawa.pl as to why it took the police so long to issue the composite sketch, Mr Koniuszy refused to explain.
He asked, however, anyone who recognise the man portrayed in the sketch or who may have witnessed the incident to contact the Mokotów police station at 3/5/7 Malczewskiego street.
"We're available at 47 72 392 50 or 47 72 392 51 (lines are open 24/7), the officer in charge of the case is at 47 72 392 24, or email us at: oficer.prasowy.krp2@ksp.policja.gov.pl" - the spokesman said.
