U.S. President Joe Biden is coming to Poland on Friday for a two-day visit. He will first visit Rzeszów, and then come to Warsaw. Poland's President Andrzej Duda said that Biden's visit would result in "a very serious reinforcement of our country".
United States President Joe Biden will come to Poland on Friday afternoon for a two-day visit. First he will travel to Rzeszów, where he will take part in a meeting devoted to the influx of refugees to Poland and the humanitarian crisi in Ukraine. Later on, he will meet with the soldiers from the 82nd Airborne Division, who have been stationed in the Podkarpacie region in recent weeks to bolster NATO eastern flank.
According to Polish president's office, Joe Biden will meet with president Andrzej Duda in Rzeszów on Friday. Both leaders are to take part in a meeting with representatives of non-governmental organisations involved in helping refugees from Ukraine.
Biden will then fly to Warsaw, where he will meet with president Duda again on Saturday and give a speech on "united efforts of the free world to support the Ukrainian nation, holding Russia accountable for its brutal war, and defending future rooted in democratic principles".
Poland's government spokesperson Piotr Müller said that Biden would also visit the National Stadium in Warsaw to see how locals help refugees. He is to be accompanied by Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and Warsaw Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski.
In his Thursday's address to the Polish people, President Andrzej Duda said that "the presence of the American leader in our country in those trying days is a very important sign corroborating the strategic nature of Polish American relations".
"Polish–American alliance is strong and solid, no matter who the incumbent in the White House is, no matter who is at the helm in Poland. It is solid since it is underpinned by our shared values: freedom and democracy. In the face of a genuine threat, we can see in all clarity that strong American leadership is needed in the world. We see how important the presence and engagement of the United States in Europe are. Secure Poland and secure Europe need more of America: equally in military dimension and in the economic sense. These will be the topics I will raise in my talks with the United States President," Andrzej Duda said.
