A crane collapsed at a construction site in Kraków's Podgórze district on Thursday, killing two workers and injuring two other. Strong winds wreaked havoc in many parts of Poland on Thursday. In western province of Lubusz, a tree fell on a moving car, killing the driver.
The fire service received a call about the accident shortly after 9 a.m. Units were immediately dispatched to a construction site of a five-story residential building. A 20-metre-tall crane has collapsed at new buildings under construction.
Two workers from the construction site died from sustained injuries, two other received medical assistance at the scene.
Eight fire service units were dispatched to the scene. Rescue operation was under way and steps were taken to secure the site.
Construction supervision inspection, state labour inspection, and the prosecutor's office were notified, and thorough examination of the site was to follow, aimed at determining what had caused the accident.
A fallen tree damaged at least nine cars at Domaniewska Street in Warsaw. According to tvnwarszawa.pl reporter, the windsnapped tree was a huge poplar.

Storms were also likely to occur. First and second degree alerts were issued for other parts of the country.
One of the most tragic accidents happened in Międzyrzecz in Lubusz Voivodeship, where a tree fell on a moving car and killed a 64-year-old driver.
