An officer of the Marshal's Guard of the Sejm (Straż Marszałkowska), with 19 years of experience in the job, was detained by the police on Monday in connection to making criminal threats against a public person. A disciplinary inquiry has been launched - informed the Sejm Information Centre.
The chairwoman of Modern Party, Katarzyna Lubnauer, informed in a Facebook post that on Sunday, during one of the programmes in TVN24, an email with threats had been sent at the station's contact email. Apart from offensive and vulgar remarks about Lubnauer, there was also a threat: "you must be killed like that thieve adamowicz" (Paweł Adamowicz, the mayor of Gdańsk stabbed to death in January; original spelling). On Monday, Radio Zet informed that these threats have been sent by an officer of the Marshal's Guard of the Sejm.
The Sejm Information Centre (CIS) issued a statement on Monday in which it informs that the police have detained an officer of the Marshal's Guard in connection to criminal threats made against a public person. The said officer has been in the job for 19 years. "There were never any reservations regarding his service so far," the CIS stressed in the statement.
The chief of the Chancellery of the Sejm, CIS wrote, "at the request of the Marshal's Guard Commander, has immediately suspended the officer in official duties and ordered a procedure leading to his immediate discharge from the service". Furthermore, in line with the law on the Marshal's Guard, "a disciplinary inquiry has been launched immediately".
Lubnauer thanked the police officers on Monday for apprehending the hater who had tried to threaten her.
The leader of Modern Party also appealed to treat this case as a warning to "all authors of such anonymous threats, that they won't go unpunished".
"We won't be intimidated anyway, you will see me today again on the streets of Warsaw," Lubnauer said.
