During Tuesday's consultations with the president, PiS will be represented by a party of three: Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, Deputy Speaker of the Sejm Ryszard Terlecki, and the party spokesman Rafał Bochenek - government spokesperson Piotr Muller told TVN24 on Monday (Oct. 23). Later on Tuesday, the president will also speak with a Civic Platform delegation. Representatives of Third Way, New Left, and Confederation will meet with Andrzej Duda the following day. Leaders of democratic opposition parties are expected to issue a joint statement on Tuesday morning.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct . 24 and 25 respectively, President Andrzej Duda will hold consultations with leaders of political parties that have won seats in the parliament of the new term.
Quoting a message received from government spokesperson Piotr Muller, TVN24 reporter Maja Wójcikowska said on Monday that the president will see PiS representatives on Tuesday at noon. She added the still-ruling party would be represented by Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, Deputy Speaker of the Sejm Ryszard Terlecki, and the party spokesman Rafał Bochenek.
Later on Tuesday, at 2 p.m., the president will a Civic Coalition delegation.
Wednesday talks schedule
On Wednesday, president Duda is to meet with representatives of Third Way (11 a.m.), New Left (1 p.m.), and Confederation (3 p.m.).
Third Way announced it would represented by its leaders, Szymon Hołownia and Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.
Krzysztof Bosak, one of the leaders of Confederation, said on Monday he would take part in the talks at the Presidential Palace along with a "broader delegation". "Most likely it will be the leaders of formations that which our coalition is comprised of, namely Confederation of the Polish Crown, and New Hope," he added.
Asked if he meant chairmen of the two formations - Grzegorz Braun and Sławomir Mentzen - Bosak said that who would come to the consultations was a "logistical issue", adding that most likely it would be him and the two other leaders.
Joint statement by opposition expected
Leaders of democratic opposition are expected to issue a joint statement ahead of Tuesday's consultations with the president. Deputy head of Civic Platform Izabela Leszczyna mentioned it in TVN24 on Monday.
Michał Kobosko of Poland 2050 also confirmed this information. "Tomorrow there will a joint declaration before the consultations begin," he said on Monday.
He reassured that representatives of Third Way, New Left, and Civic Coalition would "definitely confirm that the three democratic opposition parties are ready to work together on a coalition deal and on creating a new government, whose prime minister would, naturally, be Donald Tusk".
According to Polish Press Agency (PAP), during the joint statement, which will most likely take place in the Sejm, the leaders are expected to declare their support for Donald Tusk as prime minister.
Furthermore, although that was not certain yet, the leaders would inform how many deputy prime ministers the new cabinet would have as well as members of which parties would assume to the roles of speakers of he Sejm and the Senate.
Presidential aide Marcin Przydacz had informed earlier on in RMF FM that Andrzej Duda would see each committee starting from those which had won most votes in the election.
