"The rule of law is an issue that we mustn鈥檛 avoid and that we won鈥檛 avoid. Earlier on, we spoke some about judiciary reform in Poland and we will discuss it further today", said the President of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier during his visit to Poland.
Lot to lose
German President also said "the EU is by far the most reassuring response to the history of our continent, marked by conflicts and wars. Confident Europe is a necessary answer to changing world".
"In the EU, every nation shapes its own democracy and its rule of law state. However, when the fundamental values are in danger, it influences all the other nations and it doesn't make any us stronger," added Steinmeier.
The head of the German state said "we have a lot to lose, and if the EU's integrity breaks, none of us will gain more national strenght, we will all lose it. Let us continue to follow the path to Europe in which we guard our safety, prosperity and freedom together.
Importance of listening
President Andrzej Duda said "let us not succumb to the temptations of egoism and domination. It would be wise for Berlin to listen to what is happening in Warsaw, just as we are listening to voices from Berlin".
"Europe, including Poland and Germany, is safe, as long Berlin and Warsaw recognise each other, respect and cooperate," added Polish President.
"The Weimar Triangle remains an important forum for seeking solutions that would improve the EU. Finding these solutions could spark a new process of changes in the EU," said President Andrzej Duda at the Royal Castle in Warsaw.
