The acting chairman of Poland's financial watchdog (KNF) Marcin Pachucki said on Friday that financial system in Poland was stable and his institution was ready to act if needed. Poland's Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said later on Friday the banking sector was doing well.
In comments made as Poland's banking sector has faced turmoil over a corruption scandal involving its financial regulator, Morawiecki told reporters: "Stress tests show ... the banking sector situation is very good.
I'm sure that the situation involving the KNF will be resolved very soon, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki reassured on Friday at a congress in Jasionka near Rzeszów, southeast Poland. He added that the financial oversight institutions are operating as they should, also in the wider, macroprudential context.
The acting chairman of the Financial Oversight Authority (KNF) Marcin Pachucki reassured that the financial system in Poland was stable and the KNF was ready to act if the need be.
"The KNF is receiving loads of questions regarding the functioning of the institution. I'd like to strenuously emphasise that the KNF is operating, the continuity of functioning has been maintained and together with the National Bank of Poland, the Ministry of Finance and the Bank Guarantee Fund, we are safeguarding the financial security of Poles," said Pachucki during the financial markets debate at the "590 Congress" in Jasionka.
"The financial system is stable and we are ready to act, if the need be," he added.
