I have decided to allocate 3.5 billion zlotys to the CPK in the form of treasury bonds. This will finance the company, Poland's Prime Minister Donald Tusk said before Tuesday's government meeting. The funds are intended to cover work related to the design of the airport terminal and the railway station.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk on Tuesday (November 26) announced his financial decision regarding the Central Transport Hub (CPK).

The CPK is a large-scale infrastructure project in Poland aimed at building a central airport and a high-speed rail network, designed to improve transportation and connectivity across the country.

"This should also help resolve various doubts and disinformation regarding the future of the project. We are talking about the central airport and the infrastructure that will accompany this undertaking," emphasized the prime minister.

Funds for CPK

"I have decided to allocate 3.5 billion zlotys. These are government securities, and this money will finance the company. It will be related to the design work for the terminal, the railway station, the public transport interchange in the Airside and Landside zones, as well as the utility networks and preparatory work for the construction of the CPK airport," Prime Minister Tusk said.

He added that he was mentioning this "because there is still a lot of confusion in the public space, and this confusion is often generated by those who talked a lot about the CPK but did nothing."

"I would like to emphasize this again. We may not be as efficient in propagating this project, but the people responsible for this project are simply working, and with this decision, I am ensuring further financing for this initiative," Tusk stressed.

Later, the prime minister added: "Also, in the context of the CPK, today we will make a decision at the request of the Minister of State Assets to transfer the Polish Aviation Group and LOT Group to the Ministry of Infrastructure."

"This is related to the need for consolidation of our efforts and the integration of activities related to this major infrastructure project. It concerns railways. Railways were previously transferred to the Ministry of Infrastructure, but also directly related to the project of the great airport, it involves the Polish Aviation Group and LOT. I am convinced that this will greatly facilitate full coordination of work regarding this project," he emphasized.

The Centralny Port Komunikacyjny (CPK) is a strategic investment aimed at creating a modern national transportation system that efficiently integrates air, rail, and road transport.

As part of the CPK Programme, a new state-of-the-art central airport will be built between Warsaw and Łódź, along with a high-speed rail network.

The new airport will be designed to serve 34 million passengers annually in its initial years of operation, with plans for flexible expansion in the long term according to market needs and growth forecasts.

The estimated investment cost until 2032 is 131.7 billion zlotys.
