Poland's Marzena Zięba has won a bronze medal in powerlifting in +86kg category at Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, following in the footsteps of Justyna Kozdryk won bronze in the 45kg category. Earlier on Monday, wheelchair athlete Rafał Czuper won silver in table tennis. Polish paralympians have already won 13 medals in Tokyo.
Marzena Zięba managed to lift 140kg. China's Xuemei Deng won gold with 153kg, while Nigerian Loveline Obiji secured silver with 147kg.
Earlier on Monday, table tennis athlete playing in wheelchair Rafał Czuper (class 2) won a silver medal after losing the final game to France's Fabien Lamirault 2:3 (6:11, 14:12, 5:11, 11:7, 9:11).
Polish team has won 13 medals so far at Tokyo Paralympic Games, which are to last until September 5. The following athletes won gold medals: table tennis player Patryk Chojnowski (class 10), F32-classification club thrower Róża Kozakowska, and F52-classification club thrower Piotr Kosewicz.
Apart from Rafał Czuper, silver medal winners include Michał Derus (Men's 100m T47), and Adrian Castro (Men's Sabre Individual - Category B).
The bronze medals for Poland were won by the aforementioned Marzena Zięba, as well as Justyna Kozdryk (Women's -45 kg Powerlifting), Lech Stoltman (Men's Shot Put - F55), Maksym Chudzicki (Table Tennis Men's Singles - Class 7), Natalia Partyka (Table Tennis Women's Singles - Class 10), and Karolina Pęk (Table Tennis Women's Singles - Class 9).
Poland is likely to lose one of the medals as cyclist Marcin Polak and pilot Michał Ładosz, who had won bronze in Men's B 4000m Individual Pursuit, have been suspended after the former tested positive for doping.
