We haven't had positive test results as of yet. 121 people are hospitalised, 237 have been quarantined at home - the Minister of Health Łukasz Szumowski said on Monday when presenting government report regarding coronavirus situation in Poland. He added that 3600 people have been taken under epidemiological supervision.

On Monday (March 2), the Polish government presented a report regarding the coronavirus crisis, steps already taken to address it, as well as planned action.

Earlier on, at the National Security Bureau (BBN), President Andrzej Duda met with Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, Minister of Health Łukasz Szumowski and Minister of the Interior and Administration Mariusz Kamiński. The president informed afterwards that, so far, there have been no confirmed cases of coronavirus infection in Poland.

In the Sejm, minister Szumowski confirmed president's words. "We haven't had positive test results as of yet. 121 people are hospitalised, 237 have been quarantined at home. Over 3600 people have been taken under epidemiological supervision. Worldwide, there have been 87.000 confirmed infections" - he said.

"Infection manifests in various ways. Mostly elderly people suffer from diseases, whereas children very rarely. About 80 percent of patients suffered from mild form of infection, pneumonia and dyspnea occurred in about 14 percent of cases, whereas acute respiratory distress - in 5 percent. The highest mortality rate resulting from infection was recorded among the 80+ age group" - the minister informed.

COVID-19 infectious disease, caused by the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, appeared in December 2019 in Wuhan, Central China. Between December 31, 2019, and March 1, 2020 there were over 87.000 confirmed cases of coronavirus infections, of which around 3.000 were fatal.
