Anti-vaxxers entered a child care home in Aleksandrów Kujawski. A group of four men were angry that the pupils were being vaccinated against COVID-19. "They didn't want to talk with me. They just came to intimidate and attack me. This was a traumatic experience," said the director of the facility. She notified the police about the incident. The anti-vaxxers filed a complaint of their own, claiming the children were being vaccinated without caregivers' consent.
The incident took place on Monday, July 26. Anti-vaxxers entered a child care home in Aleksandrów Kujawski. The director of the facility, Alina Mikołajska, said that the group of four must have used the moment of food delivery to enter the premises.
"They didn't want to talk with me. They just came to intimidate and attack me. This was a traumatic experience. Especially because the children could hear it. They still ask me if I'm okay, how I feel and if I'm not scared," Mikołajska said.
The case was first reported by "Wysokie Obcasy". The director told reporters that a father of four pupils, who had been stripped of parental rights, was to be responsible for the situation. The man was against vaccinating his children, but as Mikołajska reassured, such consent was given by their current legal guardian.
Director informed the police, so did the anti-vaxxers
The director added the group had left the building 20 minutes later. Already in street, the anti-vaxxers had shouted "murderers". They published a video of the incident in the internet. At the end of the film appears a caption saying that "if the director vaccinates the children, you know what to do with her". Mikołajska sees this as a threat and says a wave of hateful comments about her has appeared online.
The police and the prosecutor's office have been notified about the case. Not only by the director of the facility, but also by the anti-vaxxers.
"According to a person who reported the situation (one of the anti-vaxxers), there's been a law violation in a social facility. The director is said to have been approving vaccinations of the pupils against the parents' will. According to that person's statement, there was neither consent from the parents, nor the legal guardians. The police in Aleksandrów Kujawski are looking into possible coercion to a certain behaviour," said Marta Białkowska-Błachowicz from the Aleksandrów Kujawski police.
"Simultaneously, an inquiry has been launch into addressing threats against the director of the social facility. The threats were cast by the members of this association," she added.
Alina Mikołajska says the children the children have been vaccinated by the legal guardian's consent, for which she has proper documents.
Anti-vaxxer attacks across Poland
In recent weeks, Poland has seen a number of attacks of anti-vaxxers. In the most flagrant incident so far, an unknown perpetrator on Sunday night set fire to a vaccination point and sanitary inspection office in Zamość. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and Health Minister Adam Niedzielski both condemned the attack, calling it "act of terror against the state".
On Sunday, dozens of anti-vaccination movement members disrupted a lactation picnic that was taking place at a hospital in Poznań. They tried to discourage young mothers and pregnant women from COVID-19 vaccinations. The police intervened.
On Saturday, anti-vaxxers surrounded a mobile vaccination station in Gdynia.
In July, anti-vaxxers stormed a vaccination point in Grodzisk Mazowiecki. Their attack was repelled by the security and the staff, for which they received a commendation.
