Many of us grown-ups could get jealous of this this little hero's courage and composure. A 7-year-old Amelka from Kalsk in western Poland has saved her grandma's life. The girl was in the middle of an online class, when her granny, suffering from diabetes, collapsed and hit her head. The lady wasn't able to call for help on her own, so Amelka stepped in.
She didn't have a phone, and yet she kept her cool and called for help. In late February, in the village of Kalsk in western Poland, a remarkable incident took place. A 7-year-old Amelka was at home with her grandmother. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the girl was having an online class. It was at that moment when her grandma had an accident.
"Her grandmother collapsed and hit her head. The girl didn't panic, she acted very responsibly. She alarmed her colleagues and the teacher about the accident. Father of one her schoolmates quickly rushed to the rescue. He immediately administered first aid" - said Krystyna Talaga, Kalsk mayor.
Shortly after, the school headmaster and teachers came to the house.
"Amelka's friends and schoolmates are all very proud of her. We, the grown-ups, appreciate her resolve even more. Each one of us could have acted differently, some could have panicked. Amelka acted in a textbook fashion. She kept her cool, and despite not having access to a telephone, she managed to make use of the resources at hand and helped her grandma" - said Ewelina Mularczyk-Sienkowska, chairwoman of "Aktywny Kalsk" Association.
