In the last two deliveries we received 450,000 less doses than Johnson & Johnson had declared - chief of the Government Strategic Reserves Agency Michał Kuczmierowski told TVN24 on Wednesday. "Until we receive delivery confirmation, we can't provide vaccination points with exact delivery dates" - he added.
Poland received a delivery of 136,000 doses of Johnson & Johnson vaccine. The delivery was much smaller than planned.
"According to the producer this is due to wait for the EMA to approve the vaccine from the American production line to enter EU market" - Kuczmierowski said. He told TVN24 that "Johnson & Johnson is a specific case, as in the last two deliveries we received 450,000 less doses than the company declared".
In his opinion, "this is a huge problem for us as we had people scheduled to receive all those shots". "As a result, all these appointments must be postponed. Admittedly, J&J has declared it will deliver the missing doses by the end of the month, so we expect the company will indeed follow through. Nevertheless, some patients will have to postpone their appointments" - he explained.
"Until we receive delivery confirmation, we can't provide vaccination points with exact delivery dates" - Kuczmierowski said.
"Another problematic vaccine is AstraZeneca. This company also can't keep delivery dates and size" - he said. "We expect another delivery by the end of the month, which should contain approx. 800,000 doses. This should cover the shortages that occurred in recent weeks" - the head of RARS explained.
Kuczmierowski also said that "Pfizer deliveries deserve to be praised, as they systematically arrive each Monday". He explained that approx. 1,2 million doses reach Poland each week.
RARS chief said that Moderna vaccine "is gaining a predicted tempo of 250,000 doses delivered weekly". "This is also a significant improvement, but it (Moderna) caused us some problems in the past" - he added.
