Deputy Prime Minister Jarosław Kaczyński had contact with a person infected with coronavirus and has gone into quarantine - deputy spokesman for the Law and Justice party (PiS) Radosław Fogiel informed on Monday. Another senior official who has gone into quarantine is the Defence Minister Mariusz Błaszczak.
"After having contact with a COVID-infected person while on official duty, following GiS guidelines, PiS Chaiman Jarosław Kaczyński is going into self-quarantine until further decisions by the sanitary authorities. Mr Chairman feels all right, and as much as possible, he will be performing his duties from home" - Radosław Fogiel wrote on Twitter.
On Monday also the Minister of Defence Mariusz Błaszczak has gone into quarantine. As he said on Twitter, he had contact with coronavirus-infected person.
"After a person I had contact with tested positive for coronavirus, sanitary authorities decided to send me into quarantine. During isolation I will keep on working, making decisions, and remain in contact with chiefs of staff and associates" - Błaszczak wrote on his private Twitter account.
The minister added that he was showing no symptoms of the disease.
Błaszczak has gone into quarantine for the second time in two weeks. He decided to go into the previous one on October 7 after General Jarosław Gromadziński had been tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, with whom the minister had met. At the time, he also informed about showing no symptoms.
The duration of quarantine for people showing no clinical symptoms of COVID-19 is 10 days and ends automatically. Since September 2, people in quarantine who show no symptoms are not being tested further.
On Sunday (October 18), Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki ended his quarantine, which he had announced on October 13. During that period the PM worked remotely and kept reassuring the government functioned normally.
"Luckily, my health is all right, my family is happy to finally see me" - the prime minister wrote on Facebook on Sunday. He added he was returning to work "in normal mode".
