On Friday morning, one of the most famous Polish ships Dar Młodzieży sailed into the Port of Gdańsk. It will be available to admire for three days at Westerplatte, and on Saturday, fans will be able to get on the deck.
"Since its construction Dar Młodzieży has rarely visited Gdańsk. The vessel, which will celebrate it's 40 birthday next year, has its home port in Gdynia. It also has a status of honourable ambassador of the city of Szczecin, but it was built in Gdańsk" - said Bogumił Łączyński from Gdynia Maritime University. He added that the ship's visit was part of a plan to have it moor in Gdańsk at least three time a year.
The Gdynia Maritime University sail training ship, designed by Zygmunt Choreń, was built in Gdańsk Shipyard 39 years ago. Since that time, the vessel has visited Gdańsk port only 7 times.
Dar Młodzieży moored in Gdańsk at Westerplatte. It will stay there for three days. Gdynia Maritime University spokesperson Agnieszka Czarnecka said it would be open for visitors on Saturday.
