In the coming days, on the president's orders, we will be carrying out a visit to the Middle East - Poland's National Security Bureau chief Jacek Siewiera told TVN24 on Thursday (Dec.7). He also informed that there was still at least one Polish citizen among the hostages held in the Gaza Strip.
Head of Poland's National Security Bureau (BBN), Jacek Siewiera, was asked in TVN24 how many Polish citizens were still in the war-torn Gaza Strip and if there was a chance to free them.
"We know about at least one Polish citizen who remains among the hostages in the tunnels beneath the Gaza Strip, and a dozen or so citizens or families of citizens who are residents of the Gaza Strip or remained in the Gaza Strip," he replied. "We are making constant effort to bring them to safe areas or lead to their release."
Asked exactly with whom the negotiations over that issue were being held, the BBN chief said that "both consular and uniformed services are involved in talks with both the Israeli side as well as actors on the Palestinian side and others in the region".
"Suffice it to say that in the coming days, on the president's orders, we will be carrying out a visit to the Middle East," Siewiera stressed.
Siewiera specified that he would lead the delegation. "I will be responsible also for this part of talks," he said.
Israeli military operations, launched in the north part of the Gaza Strip in response to the Oct. 7 attack carried out by Hamas, are currently taking place across the entirety of this Palestinian territory. Ashraf Al-Qudra, the spokesperson for the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza, informed on Thursday that at least 17,177 Palestinians have died in Israeli attacks since Oct. 7, of which 70% were women, children, and young people under 18 years of age. At least 46,000 people have been injured.
