Poland's Health Minister Adam Niedzielski announced at a press conference on Tuesday that members of three professions - medics, teachers, and all uniformed services - will have a duty to get vaccinated starting March 1.
"An element we've decided on recently is mandatory vaccination for selected professions. Following in footsteps of Germany, Austria, starting March 1 we will want to introduce from vaccination duty for three groups: first group are medics, second group are teachers, third group are uniformed services," minister Niedzielski said.
He added that members of these groups should make sure they are vaccinated by March 1, as from then on it will be a necessary condition to be allowed to carry out duties.
The minister also informed that the government was finishing work on a legislation that would allow employers to expect employees to take COVID-19 tests. He explained that the plan, if implemented, was meant to help to ensure "safe work environment".
Also present at the conference, Deputy Health Minister Waldemar Kraska said from December 15 people living in the same household with a person with COVID-19 will have to take mandatory tests, regardless if they have vaccination certificates or not.
Kraska also said that, starting December 15, limit for people in public transport will be lowered to 75% of capacity, while limits for restaurants, bars, hotels, cinemas, theatres, sport venues, and places of worship - to 30%. "The limits can be increased only for vaccinated people, verified by the business owner," he added.
Furthermore, discos, clubs, and facilities offering dancing spaces will have to close, with the exception of December 31 and January 1 - when up to 100 people will be allowed, not counting vaccinated people.
Kraska also informed eating food in cinemas will be banned from December 15, while between December 20 and January 9, primary and high schools will switch fully to online classes.
