Poland's GDP in the 2nd quarter of 2021 increased by 11.1% year on year in a highest jump since 1995, according to Central Statistical Office of Poland (GUS). Prices of consumer goods, on the other hand, increased by 5.4% compared to 2020.
"Seasonally unadjusted gross domestic product (GDP) in the 2nd quarter of 2021 was higher by 11.1% in year-on-year comparison against the decrease by 8.3% in the corresponding quarter of 2020 (constant average prices of the previous year)" - the Central Statistical Office of Poland (GUS) said on Tuesday in its preliminary estimation.
This has been the highest jump for Polish economy since GUS started to publish its data in 1995.
Highest inflation since 2001
Consumer prices according to the flash estimate in August 2021, compared with the corresponding month of the previous year, increased by 5.4% (price index 105.4), and as related to the previous month increased by 0.2% (price index 100.2).
Last time inflation in Poland was higher was in June 2001, when it spiked up to 6.2%. In July 2001, prices of consumer goods increased by 5.2%.
