Inflation in Poland in September 2021 has increased 5.9% compared to September of 2020 - Statistics Poland (GUS) informed on Friday. Compared to August 2021, prices in Poland have increased by 0.7%.

According to GUS flash estimate published in early October, inflation in September 2021 spiked by 5.8% compared with the corresponding month of the previous year, and by 0.6% compared to the previous month.
Consumer prices in August 2021 increased by 5.5% year to year.
Last time when inflation in Poland was higher happened in June, 2001, when it spiked up to 6.2%.
GUS also informed that the contribution of price changes to the total consumer price index In September of the current year, compared with the previous month, the highest contribution to the total consumer price index came from higher prices related to Dwelling (by 0,7%), Transport (by 1,2%), Clothing and footwear (by 3,1%) and Communication (by 2,3%) which increased the index by 0,17 pp and 0,12 pp each, respectively.
"Compared with the corresponding month of the previous year, higher prices related to Transport (by 18,5%), Dwelling (by 6,4%) and Food (by 4,2%) increased the consumer price index by 1,65 pp, 1,60 pp and 1,03 pp, respectively," we read in GUS press release.
