Education Minister Przemysław Czarnek announced on Tuesday that starting Thursday (Jan. 27) until the end of winter holidays 5th-graders and older children will switch to remote classes. He added that an ordinance in that regard would be signed on Wednesday.
Poland's Minister of Education and Science Przemysław Czarnek said at a press conference on Tuesday that the country was reintroducing remote classes for part of students. "Kindergartens, reception classes, and classes 1-4 will continue stationary educations, whereas classes 5-8 and all secondary school students will switch to remote learning until the end of winter holidays," he explained.
He added that an ordinance in that regard would be signed on Wednesday.
The minister also said that students of high school graduation classes would be allowed to take part in individual and group consultations.
"Special schools will decide together with parents whether to continue with stationary education, or switch to remote classes," Czarnek added.
As to the universities, the minister said, decisions will be made by the rectors.
"All this is dictated by the rising cases of coronavirus ... in practice, this means two weeks of remote learning," Czarnek told reporters.
Pupils will learn remotely from Thursday until the end of the winter holidays at the end of February.
Poland reported 36,995 new daily COVID-19 infections on Tuesday. On Saturday the country recorded 40,876 cases, the highest since the beginning of the pandemic.
